ABOUT THE ARTIST

Kim and Rob Withrow have been working in clay for 10 years. They specialize in functional stoneware pottery. Making a variety of pots in many colors. Bowls, mugs, casseroles and the more unigue items such as face jugs. All their pottery is produced by them, mostly on the wheel, some handbuilt work. The pottery is fired to 2400f, no lead or other toxic materials are used in the glazes, which Kim and Rob mix themselves from "recipes". The pottery is microwave, dishwasher and oven safe. The Withrows have a shop, named Smoke in the Mountains Pottery in downtown Brasstown on the corner of Settawig Road and Old Hwy 64. The shop is run by their daughter Shannon, who is an artist specializing in oils. The shop hours for the fall are 11a to 5p Thursday through Saturday. 1p to 5p on Sunday. Besides having the shop, Kim and Rob participate in many shows during the year and wholesale. They also teach at the John C. Campbell Folk School twice a year.
